A therapist can help in many ways such as providing a safe, compassionate space for you to share your feelings, to release past trauma, to process fears and worries, help bring thought and behavior patterns to your awareness, facilitate positive change in your life, help you discover your true self, gain clarity on life issues, motivation, accountability, support through change, personal growth, gain new perspective in life, help you design a life that feels just right for you, and to help you learn many more life enriching skills!
Therapy is completely voluntary. As a client you are in complete control and may end our counseling relationship at any time, though I do ask that you participate in a termination session. Telehealth sessions can be held in the comfort of your own home or anywhere in the state of Texas or Washington. You will need an electronic device with internet and camera access. You will receive a link to click on and enter your telehealth session.
Weekly sessions are strongly advised in the beginning of your counseling journey to help build the therapeutic relationship. Mental health assessments will help determine your level of care and your therapist will discuss whether weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly sessions are best for your mental health wellness. Sessions typically last for 6 months or more depending on your individual mental health concerns.
After scheduling your free 15 minute consultation and determining that we are a good fit, you will then receive intake paperwork to complete prior to your intake appointment. In the intake session, the therapist gathers information on your mental health needs through assessments and then determine goals you would like to achieve in therapy. Subsequent sessions are client-centered to address your individual treatment goals.
Therapy provides a safe space for you to process your concerns, feelings, and set goals you would like to achieve such as managing emotions, learn coping strategies to alleviate symptoms related to your mental health, or to process trauma. Through deep self-exploration, you learn about your thought and behavior patterns. Therapy can help facilitate the desired thoughts and behaviors for your personal growth.

Counseling therapy is based on the medical model in which you receive a medical diagnosis according to the guidelines of the DSM-V-TR. Your care will be based on medical necessity and allows for health insurance. On the other hand, coaching gives you support and guidance in your life situation and personal goals without medical necessity or a DSM-V-TR diagnosis. Health insurance is not accepted for coaching services.
